Fighting for Fairbanks’ Fair Share
Scott Kawasaki has brought home millions of dollars in funding for Fairbanks community institutions. Recent wins for Fairbanks include securing over $700,000 for our pioneer home, half-a-million dollars for foster youth, and over $350,000 for renovating Moore Street Senior Center.
He also worked to open the Chena Wayside, enjoyed by many in our community.
Senator Kawasaki will continue to work to create a long-term plan for this important landmark.
Scott Kawasaki fights for the most vulnerable in our community. He also makes sure Fairbanks has a seat at the table in any decision made in Juneau. He makes sure Fairbanks gets our fair share. Send him back to the capital to fight for Fairbanks.
Delivering on the PFD, Energy, and keeping costs down for Fairbanks Working Families
Scott Kawasaki is a hard-worker who gets things done for Fairbanks. He has fought for larger permanent fund dividends. With prices rising and wages stagnant, Scott Kawasaki understands how important this dividend is for working families. When re-elected, he will continue to fight to make sure working families get the dividend they deserve.
One of Scott’s top priorities is lowering the cost of energy for Fairbanks working families. Scott supported HB 307, a landmark electricity transmission bill which will bring down costs for interior ratepayers. Scott also supports responsible oil and gas development and is fighting to get more renewable energy transmission online and integrated in our system.
Senator Scott Kawasaki also fought hard in Juneau to help local governments lower the cost of property taxes. Fairbanks families need more money in their pockets so they can thrive.
Standing up for our Military Families
Scott Kawasaki knows how important the military community is to Fairbanks. He has represented Fairbanks in the State Senate since 2018, and during that time he has always met with armed service members and their families and asked how we can better serve them in Juneau.
Senator Scott Kawasaki passed Senate Bill 12, which makes it easier for military spouses who had licenses in other states to get expedited licenses in Alaska and work in their profession and contribute to our local economy. A win-win for Fairbanks and our military families.
Scott also supports a permanent increase to the Base Student Allocation (BSA). Flat funding education caused us to close schools, for example Ben Eielson Jr/Sr High School, which serviced our military families. We must fund education to avoid more school closures, larger class sizes, and cuts to sports and after school activities.
When re-elected, Senator Scott Kawasaki will continue to listen and represent the interests of our active duty members, their families, and our veterans.
